Pickup in Delhi
Early, and there is no way around it. The whole point of the trip is being at the gate before it opens.

Arrive Agra, meet your guide
Your Delhi driver hands you to a licensed Agra guide at the gate. The driver waits with the car.

Taj Mahal opens
Opening is 30 minutes before sunrise. The first 40 minutes are the quietest of the entire day and the light on the marble changes from grey to pink to white while you stand there.

A proper sit-down breakfast once you are out. You will want it.

Agra Fort
About 90 minutes. The Musamman Burj looks back across the river at the Taj — the view Shah Jahan had in his last years.

Drive back to Delhi
Back in Delhi between 18:00 and 20:00 depending on the Yamuna Expressway and Delhi traffic.

Your driver will call the hotel from the lobby. If the night porter will not wake you, call the number on your voucher — we answer 24 hours on trip nights.

- Only a phone, a small camera and a wallet. Tripods, drones, food and large bags are refused at security
- Something warm for December to February — the 02:30 start is genuinely cold

Free cancellation up to 48 hours before pickup. We use 48 hours rather than 24 because Taj Mahal tickets are bought in your name in advance and cannot be transferred to another traveller.
Questions people actually ask
Is the Taj Mahal closed on Friday?
Yes. The Taj Mahal is closed to tourists every Friday for prayers. We do not run this trip on Fridays. Agra Fort stays open.
Is the 02:30 start really necessary?
For sunrise, yes. Delhi to Agra is about four hours with a stop, and the gate queue starts forming before opening. A later start means arriving into the crowd, which is the thing sunrise exists to avoid.
What does the ticket cost?

Can I go inside the tomb chamber?
Yes, with a small supplement paid at the gate. It is a short walk through a dark, crowded interior. Worth doing once; not the reason to come.
Can we do this as a day trip and still see Fatehpur Sikri?
Not comfortably in one day from Delhi. It adds roughly three hours and you will be exhausted. We would rather sell you an overnight in Agra than a bad day.
Are drones allowed?
No. Drone photography of the Taj Mahal is illegal and drones are confiscated at security. Do not bring one.
What if it is foggy?
December and January mornings in north India are often thick with fog and the monument can be invisible until 09:00. We will tell you this before you book a January date rather than after.
