What is included

  • Hotel pickup and drop-off in Delhi or Gurugram
  • Private air-conditioned car with driver
  • Licensed English-speaking guide for the full day
  • Cycle-rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk
  • Monument entrance fees
  • Meals
  • Tips

The day, hour by hour

  1. 08:30

    Pickup

Old Delhi first, deliberately — the lanes are navigable in the morning and impossible by mid-afternoon.

  2. 09:15

    Jama Masjid

India's largest mosque. Shoulders and knees covered; robes are available at the gate. The minaret climb is optional and worth it.

  3. 10:15

    Chandni Chowk by cycle-rickshaw

Forty minutes through the spice market and the silver lanes. The rickshaw is not a gimmick — it is the only vehicle that fits.

  4. 11:30

    Raj Ghat

Gandhi's memorial. Quiet, green, and a deliberate change of pace.

  5. 13:00

    Lunch

Your guide will offer options from street-level to sit-down and let you pick.

  6. 14:30

    Humayun's Tomb

The Mughal garden tomb that the Taj Mahal was built in answer to. Most visitors find it the surprise of the day.

  7. 16:00

India Gate and the government quarter

A drive down Rajpath past the President's house, with photo stops.

  8. 17:30

    Return

Back at your hotel by around 18:00, traffic depending.

Questions people actually ask

Is Old Delhi safe for foreign visitors?

Yes, with a guide who knows the lanes. It is crowded, loud and disorienting rather than dangerous. Keep bags in front of you, as you would in any dense market anywhere.

Is the cycle-rickshaw ride ethical?

The riders are independent and paid directly and fairly for the ride; we do not haggle them down. It is also the only practical way through Chandni Chowk — the lanes are too narrow for anything else.

Can we do this and the Taj Mahal on the same day?

No. Agra is a four-hour drive each way and deserves its own day. Anyone selling you both in twenty-four hours is selling you a day in a car.

What should women wear?

Loose clothing covering shoulders and knees. For Jama Masjid specifically, a scarf for the head is required and is available at the entrance.

Is Humayun's Tomb worth the time?

It is the most underrated monument in India. The Taj Mahal is its descendant, and seeing the prototype after the finished article rearranges how you think about both.

How bad is the traffic?

Genuinely bad between 17:00 and 20:00. Our route runs the outer stops early and keeps the late afternoon central, which is why the day starts at 08:30.
