Questions people actually ask
Will I definitely see alligators?
Almost always in the cooler months, when they bask in the open. In high summer they stay submerged and sightings are less reliable — no operator can promise wildlife, and any that does is selling you something.
Are airboats loud?
Very. They are aircraft propellers on a flat hull. Ear protection is provided and is not optional for children.
Is it cruel to the wildlife?
The airboat itself passes through open water and does not disturb much. Some operators run alligator-handling shows that we would not choose; ask us and we will place you with a park that focuses on habitat rather than handling.
What is the best time of year?
December to April: fewer mosquitoes, more visible wildlife, and comfortable temperatures. Summer is hot, wet and heavily insect-populated.
Can I drive myself?
Yes, and the without-transfers price reflects that. It is about 45 minutes each way from Miami Beach on good roads.
How long is the airboat portion?
Thirty minutes, which is the right length. Longer rides exist and mostly cover the same water twice.
